Re:
Safety Training Certification Programs – New Applications

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is in great need of safety trainers to conduct in-house safety training in all counties of Illinois.

Pursuant to Public Act 95-501 and 89 Ill. Adm. Code Section 140.490(f), providers of non-emergency medicar and service car transportation are required to certify that all drivers and employee attendants have completed safety training certification every three years.

Currently, Public Act 102-0364 allows HFS transportation providers to conduct in-house safety training programs if they meet training components established by HFS. These providers have the ability to charge providers for conducting these trainings.

If interested in becoming a certified safety trainer, please email a completed application and curriculum to HFS.Transportation@illinois.gov.

Questions regarding this notice may be directed to the Bureau of Professional and Ancillary Services at 877-782-5565.
