To: Home Health Care Service (HHCS) Providers - Nursing services, Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST)

​Re: Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) - Reminder for Home Health Care Services (HHCS) Providers 

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) is mandated by the 21st Century Cures Act ("Act"). The Act requires EVV for all Medicaid funded Personal Care Services (PCS) and Home Health Care Services (HHCS).

The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) implemented EVV for PCS providers on September 1, 2023. In continuing efforts to improve Medicaid program integrity by promoting quality services and positive outcomes for customers, safeguard against fraud and abuse, improve program oversight and comply with federal regulations, HFS implemented EVV to HHCS providers on December 31, 2023.

This notice reminds HHCS providers delivering Nursing services, Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST) that submit claims for reimbursement to the Department of Human Services - Division of Developmental Disabilities (DHS-DDD), University of Illinois at Chicago - Division of Specialized Care for Children (UIC-DSCC), or Illinois Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) and HealthChoice Managed Care Plans of the implementation and requirements for compliance with EVV.

HHCS providers within this scope, are strongly encouraged to visit the HFS EVV website and the State’s EVV vendor, HHAeXchange Illinois Information website for guidance on implementation and ensuring system readiness. 

Impacted providers are required to take the following actions if they have not already completed enrollment and the December 2023 System Training:

· Complete the HHAeXchange Provider Enrollment Form

·Review the HHAeXchange November 2023 Informational Session:

·Register for January 2024 System User Training - registration (select one).
