Substance Abuse

Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA)

The Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse operates as the single state authority for substance abuse issues in Illinois.  DASA coordinates the efforts of state programs dealing with problems created by alcoholism and substance abuse and is a primary funder of substance abuse services for children and adults at all levels of care throughout the state.  DASA also is responsible for the licensing and certification of all persons engaged in substance abuse treatment and intervention, as defined in Section 301/15-5 of the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and Dependency Act.
